I got to thinking..... about things Ill never know for sure.... cause the ones I need to check with are on the other side. My Grandma grew up on a farm, with 12 brothers and sisters, in the mountains of Pennsylvania. When she was little they believed that Santa brought oranges and apples and candy and put them in their shoes if they were good and candy in their socks with maybe a little homemade toy. She had some mischievous older brothers who would put coal and a switch (tree branch) in the younger kids shoes and tell them Santa thought theyd been bad. ..... anyway. My Grandmas ancestors were German, English and Irish .... and the question I want to ask her is if she knew where those traditions all came from.
