I got to thinking today, as I was petting Fluffy and Noodles (my sisters pet squirrels) that we take a lot for granted. As I watched the wild cats outside, begging for treats, I wondered - what would the world be like if we had domesticated cats instead of squirrels? Now before you tell me Im crazy, think about it for a moment. Would they be friendly? Would we have to lock our doors at night so they wouldnt eat us in our sleep? I mean, hey - the ones out back seem cute and adorable and all that, but... Ive seen their eyes at night. *Shuddering* They scare me a little.... Aside from that, would our poor and elderly folks still be reduced to eating squirrel food? What would the cheap source of food be, if not nuts? (A friend of mine once admitted that she tried a few varieties of nuts - she says some of them were actually quite tasty. Still watching her to see if she develops a fluffy tail...) What would we have in our homes for cats to play with? I cant even imagine it... I do know that Fluffy and Noodles are quite happy with the new expanded Burying Station that I got them last week. It will hold up to fifteen pounds of nuts - three times what the last one held, so you dont have to scatter them as often. It even has extra chewing posts, to keep their adorable little teeth healthy and squeaky clean. Cats... yeah, I know thats a stretch, thinking of them as possible pets. I mean, really - theyre carnivores! But if you think Im crazy, what about my friend John? He suggested the possibility of DOGS as pets. Wow. And you thought *I* was full of squirrel food. ;)
