I got up early on Christmas morning in 2002 to record this on our VCR. Our Daddy was in Seattle and it was our first Christmas without him. Little did we know, we would never physically spend Christmas with him again. He went to be with Jesus a week before Christmas (on my birthday) in 2003. On my birthday/his going-to-heaven-day in 2004, I went shopping for One Special Christmas. One young man on my list asked for a special fishing reel from Bass Pro Shops. As I walked out of the store with the specific gift that he asked for, I realized that in a way my dad was still here. Because of my dad, a child would know that he MATTERED. He would feel loved and maybe for once feel that there is good in the world. And not just THAT CHILD, but many children. My Dad believed that giving a gift to the least of these was actually giving a gift to Jesus. And so that is what he worked hard to do for much of his life.
