I grew up eating fish that my mother would buy off the boats as the fisherman brought in their daily catches in Wellfleet and Chatham. My buds and I would sleep on the beach along the outer Cape (something you cannot do today) then, in the morning, catch flounder in the surf and cook them on a stick over an open fire in the sand. To say I like fresh fish is an understatement. But my days of eating fish are numbered. Officials in Japan admit that 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima is entering the Pacific Ocean each and every day- and will for years to come. It is already being reported that fish caught off the coast Canada contain radiation from Fukushima. Over time, the nuclear material from Fukushima is going to be carried all over the northern hemisphere- not just the Pacific. Yet our governments continue to keep the population in the dark. For example, The ultra conservative regime of Steven Harper (Canada’s George Bush) has shut down all but 2 Civil Defense Radiation detection stations from the west coast to the Manitoba Saskatchewan border 1500 miles inland and, at the same time, quietly raised maximum allowable radiation contamination level in air, water, soil & food by hundreds to thousands of times the previously establish safe radiation contamination limits.
