I grew up in Breckinridge County on Rough River Lake. In the winter time they dropped the lake to winter flood stage and you could literally walk the lake bottom. I spent many a day between the ages of 8 and 11 alone walking there. What I remember most is the quiet and solitude. Only the sound of the wind and the occasional call of a lone Hawk circling above. Even at that young age I appreciated the solitude. The older I get the harder it is to go back there in my memory. When I do find my way back in my mind I am rewarded with that peace that I felt as a child. Living in Louisville, especially during the holiday season, sometimes its hard to appreciate quiet and solitude. I guess what Im trying to say is, seek those moments out...... Savor them and take a moment to remember what this season is about. Its not about getting and receiving material things, its about a quiet night 2000+ years ago when the greatest gift of all was given to all of us. My intent is not to alienate those friends of mine who may not believe the way I do. If you dont, I respect that. Just take the time to appreciate the real things in your life, whether or not you share my beliefs ;-)
