I grew up on what I’d call an unintentional mini-farm. We sort - TopicsExpress

I grew up on what I’d call an unintentional mini-farm. We sort of just slowly acquired animals. At one point we had horses, pigs, ducks and a couple dogs. But then the dogs ate the ducks, we ate the pigs and we sold the horses. So we were left with a dog farm. One horse in particular was a family favorite, Spooker-Dee. He was my older sister, Debs horse. She loved him and he loved her. But like everything, all good things must end. One sad day, we sold Spooker-Dee. One little problem, no one asked him if he wanted to be sold. He refused to get in the horse trailer. He refused to leave Deb. His new owner attempted to drag and pull him in, but in his defiance Spooker-Dee kicked and bucked… finally pulling the new owner to the ground. Eventually my big sister Deb gave it a shot. “Patience and calmness is the key.” She said. And without a struggle, Spooker-Dee walked into the trailer. Why? Spooker-Dee knew her voice and trusted her. In our life we sort of do the same thing with God’s will. We pray for God to do something and then when it doesnt happen, we grab a hold of the reigns and drag and pull our life in the direction we want it to go. We claim to trust Him and His plans, but we lose patience and we try to force our own will. One of the most important parts of faith is having patience and calmness while you wait for God to move you along. Is that you today? “Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD.” Psalm 27:14. I think the children’s song got it right, “Trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”
