I grieve that the media and public response convict people before - TopicsExpress

I grieve that the media and public response convict people before final evidence of guilt. That occurs repeatedly, and the sad thing is some people express their anger against people presumed guilty, before the facts are in and the courts render their verdict--and even when that verdict is innocent--express their anger and vengefulness on social media and other places, which magnifies the problem. Those who profess faith, I believe must stand apart and not be judging others, especially publicly, even if it is the President of the United States, as it flies in the face of Christs message about judgment and separating religion and government. I worry, as families like the Bergdahls have received threats against their lives in the heat of expressed anger about their son. Despite concerns that some soldiers may have lost lives in a search for their son, to threaten them, and to condemn the man, is in opposition to the message of love and the admonitions against judgment. I believe the consistent remarks that occur that judge and condemn are like the elements of mob hysteria, when people have been hanged, tortured and worse. I also believe the behavior of judgment against others is one of the reasons the fastest growing religion in the world is no religion. As a theist who believes in universal love, I must offer my plea that folks who read this end the behavior that makes people turn aside from religion when they see that the principles of love and kindness are not practiced as preached.
