I guess I have a lot of thankfulness postings to catch up on...I have been pretty much consumed with trying to get Dakota where he needed to be. So, for November 1, I was (am) SO grateful to be home...back in my own environment surrounded by my family and our pups...It was absolutely horrible what Dakota was going through, so truly, there is no place like home! For Nov 2, I am grateful for our sweet dogs Zeus and Brutus who love wholeheartedly and unconditionally. You could learn many life lessons from a dog! When I would have a crying spell, they would just come and sit beside me and rest their head in my lap and look up at me with their beautiful brown eyes as if to say Mama, it IS going to be okay! Nov 3, I am thankful for my coworkers. Bad things happened with Dakota right before I left for work Sunday and I was VERY upset. I am thankful for coworkers who asked,Kristl Molina, Jen Davis, Diane Fisher, John Singer, Cindy Weise Eisenhauer, and Becky Saltern and hugged me and encouraged me. I am also grateful for those who noticed my red eyes (looked like I was out on a weed smoking binge!!) and had the class to not ask. Its not easy going to work with a heavy heart, and I am SO grateful that I work in a hospital full of caring people who help carry your load. Nov 4, I am SO grateful for the staff at the Recovery Village who recognize a scared hurting young man needs to be in treatment, not kicked out because of some inappropriate behaviors. I am SO thankful they see past all the addict nonsense and see the hurting young man inside in need of healing. Nov 5, I am thankful for my husband. Yes, he drives me absolutely nuts pretty much all of the time, but yet, when the chips are down, he helps me do what has to be done to help Dakota. He may not understand Dakotas addiction, and I KNOW he is upset and angry and disappointed with the whole situation, but he is supporting his treatment the best he can, and I DO appreciate it! Nov 6, I am thankful that God...the creator of the universe and all that is within it cares for you and me on a deep and intimate level. He loves us and knows us down to the innermost secrets in our hearts and amazingly, He wants us to be close to Him! He WANTS us to pour out our hearts to Him. To me, that is mind boggling that God Almighty cares about all if the little things AND big things in our life. Humbling...and mind boggling.
