I guess if you want to play political word games, it all really comes down to your preferred definition of chaos. The Founders didnt write the Constitution forming a Republic before the Declaration of Independence. Otherwise there might have been only 1% instead of 3% (figure of speech) actually taking up arms. There were only 3% to begin with not because the other 97% supported the Crown. On the contrary, quite a good number were convinced the signers of the Declaration of Independence were simply going to replace one tyrannical government with another. They wanted no part of that. They were anarchists to the core, and wanted no authorative body governing over them period. They wanted the freedom to live as they saw fit, in a survival of the fittest world where they were answerable to no one except themselves, where they were free to interpret morality and justice as they defined it. I dont consider that to be living under common law. I define that environment as chaotic at best. Im always amazed to hear anarchists talking about the new, kinder gentler anarchy. About how they need to baa to the sheep and gently lull them back over to their side of the fence and feed them just enough clover to keep them content. Sounds familiar. Obviously they dont know anything about sheep. The minute the wolves appear, sheep trample themselves in a blind panic, fleeing to get away. They never make a stand together, but leave it to the sheepdogs to protect the herd. Sheep cannot be turned into sheepdogs; no matter how much clover theyre hand fed. So why do anarchists trouble themselves trying to change their image in order to make it more palatable for the sheep? Although, it is difficult for a distracted sheepdog to spot another pack of wolves, dressed in sheeps clothing, creeping up on him from behind, looking to scatter the herd and send them fleeing in a blind panic, forcing them to fend for themselves in a survival of the fittest environment.
