I guess looking back...a long way back...I was a victim of child abuse...by todays standards anyways...I know going out to the back house and picking out which stick my Dad was going to blister my butt with was as much punishment as the actual whuppin....times change and we evolve...Never saw Dad raise his hand to Mom though...spanking children like A.P. did seems a bit too harsh...the little guy is only 4 years old...hard to say unless your the Mom I guess
