I guess my politics are what you might call Christian Conservative. From the Christian part I get the idea that all governments have a moral obligation to help their poor, disadvantaged, and suffering citizens using taxpayer money. I believe that Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, and Food Stamps are all necessary parts of a good safety net. Now comes the part where the Left and I disagree. I believe that all the governments citizens should voluntarily give 10% of their gross income to charities and that no government should ever take more than 20% of any citizens gross income, or capital gains, or profits (except for a time when the government is in a declared war). I also believe that all governments should have balanced budgets and they should never have any debt (except for a time when the government is in a declared war). The state of Texas has written in its constitution that its government will have no debt. The Always Lovely Theresa Ann and I have no debt. When the state of Texas or Gary and Theresa sees that their budgets are about to generate a deficit they both start cutting expenditures. Immediately! Currently our nation has a $17 trillion debt. There are many different costs that caused that debt. The problem that I have with the Left is that their only answers to retiring that debt is to cut Americas defense expenditures and to increase taxes on The Rich. During this time in our history where there are many extremist/terrorist organizations that want to destroy America and to destroy other Democratic Republic governments we should not be cutting our defense budget.
