I had a Ravenwood parent share recently the thing she was most struck by when attending a closing ceremony at summer camp. It was the feeling of a relaxed pace, trust and homeiness that was pervasive and so inviting. When we train staff and volunteers we often talk about our efforts to create space and describe this phenomena as a collective dropping in experience that seems to open the heart and enrich our time together in a time-less manner. We know were on track when Hygge happens and its important to work toward this outcome as a community and society, as this study points out. Hats off to the Danes for the inspiration and lending of a beautiful word and cultural experience for the good of people and their place!
