I had a big scare last night. Due to the nasty weather, I put my very prego mare in the barn. even though I did not expect a foal, you never know. Before going out to check at 10pm, my hyper sensitive mom ears heard a thump coming from the barn. I threw on my jacket and ran out. She laid down too close to the wall and was not able to get up. Even though her foaling stall is 13X16 she found a way. She is a big horse to begin with and heavy with foal, she is HUGE!!! Luckily my hubby and I were able to pull her away enough she could finally get up.... She now has the whole barn to roam in. I should have known better and done that first. I am lucky I was checking her even though she was not quite ready to foal. I kept a close eye on her last night, and this morning she was back to normal. Please say a prayer that God helps me watch her until baby arrives. She is a one of a kind mare, and a sweet soul to all who are lucky enough to meet her. Even Ben likes her if that says anything!
