I had a dream that for one 24 hour period in the world not one - TopicsExpress

I had a dream that for one 24 hour period in the world not one crime was committed, not one harsh word spoken, not one hand raised in anger, not one person was hungry, not one shot fired in the name of war. You know what happened? Earth healed. Water ran pure. Air was sweet. Every disease connected to stress and contamination disappeared from our bodies. The light was so bright in the sky and yet it didnt burn our skin. Prejudice didnt exist. Greed was not a word. Tears were of joy, not sadness or pain. I guess I dreamed of heaven because when I woke to the reality of this life, I felt a moment of such overwhelming loss for what weve done to ourselves that I couldnt breathe. Do good today. My daughters elderly neighbor, who Scout called Mr. Leroy, passed away last night. I never knew his last name. As Kathy reminded me, he is finally reunited with his beloved Rose, the wife he lost so long ago. She asked me to do something kind today in his honor and I will. For as long as shes lived on that street, shes been Mr. Leroys ride to the doctor, his ride to the store, his ride to pick up medicine. His taxi when needed. I have never cooked a family meal that she didnt make a plate of leftovers to take to Mr. Leroy, along with a generous helping of desserts. Mr. Leroy loved his sweets. He had two little Chi dogs who ruled his front yard and warned every car that dared pass too close to stay away. She and her family have been his shadow for the better part of ten years. Scout took his trash to the curb and pulled the bin back to the house every week. They have fixed his roof, and mowed his yard. They have been the ones to find him unconscious in his house, whove fed the dogs when he was in the hospital, and done it quietly without thought because he was their neighbor. They are caught between grief that hes gone from the conclave of good neighbors on their street, but so happy that his suffering has come to an end. Be kind today. Stop prejudice from rearing its ugly head in your presence and it, too, will end. Enough has been said and done in the name of righteousness. It is time to do what is right in the name of peace.
