I had a fan recently jump to conclusions about a previous post. In that post I said violence can be the only solution to some problems. And elsewhere in the post I mentioned the world was over populated. He somehow put these two together to mean solve population problems with violence! Um, no. Let me clarify. Violence: Violence is the only solution to very specific problems. Is your nation being invaded? Respond with violence. Is someone trying to rape your daughter? Violence. Armed bad guys coming down your street? (This actually happened to me last week) get ready to be violent...if you must. Its a last resort to a horrible situation, and yes, thats how all governments through out the history of the world have handled these problems. This isnt actually a bizarre statement, but people have decided to use violence as a key word to meaning bad guys. Armies and police have used violence to stop bad guys since the invention of both, so saying sometimes violence is necessary is really saying Im pro army and pro police! Population: I think the world would have been better off with 1/50th the population. Actually, youd be har pressed to find a scientist whod disagree with this. Our resources are running out because humans now consume more, faster then the earth can replenish. I am not saying we can get there from here, Im merely saying it would have been better to not have gotten this bad. I dont think there is a way to go back to that population level, unless people voluntarily choose not to have kids for a couple generations. But thats not likly. Yeah, so war or nature disaster, (climate change) might be the population down, not by deaths, but by making people choose to have less kids. Anyway, yes, we are over populated. Thats a fact, but its not the same statement as saying kill people! Its fare to say this would have been better without saying you know a way to get to that result. I dont think any rational human being would disagree with either statement, but a nitration human looking for attention might. At this point, Im really not sure that Facebook, or online, is a good place for discussions. I think there are too many people looking for drama, or looking to be offended, and willing to make a fight where there is none, in order to get attention.
