I had a great day talking with companies interested in economic development in southeast Michigan. Bringing businesses into Pontiac is crucial for the sustainability of our schools, the resurrection of our job market, and increasing our property value. It takes knowledge of Placemaking and economic and community development. It takes knowledge of position based budgeting and fund balance. It takes knowledge to understand property assessment, millages, and bonds. The best seat at the table is one where we know the game that is being played. It takes the ability to interchange between units of government on local, state, national and international level. This is not inherent or learned from books. Just as a doctor goes to medical school and then does an internship, I come to the table with a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in local government and four years of experience on both the elected and administrative function on local, state, national and international level. I am ready on day one!
