I had a great night out at dinner with my long time student and friend Glen Fellow. Glen has over 22 years training and first started his training with me in Nelson New Zealand then followed me to Perth Western Australia. We both worked together in the security industry both in NZ as well as Australia. We both had our fare shear of fights while working in night clubs and bars which helped cement our friendship as well as use or FMA skills in real combat. Glen is still in the security industry but now he installs video surveillance all over Australia. At dinner at his place I meet new and old friends who have also worked the same sort of places doing security back in the day. One of Glens friends asked if I known a Basil (Baz) Henderson or a Jason Mackey who are black belts in FMA and both can fight like mother f##@ers. This made me laugh as they were my students, I sheared a house with them both, I introduced them and trained them in FMA in New Zealand as well as Australia and it was me that gave them their black belts about 15 years ago. Glen said, GM you have trained so many students over the years all over the world propagating and promoting Magkuno Diamondback Eskrima, that it is unlikely that if they have trained in security or FMA they havent come into contact with us or some of your students one way or another. This made me think, yes it is a small world and slowly but surely our art of Magkuno Diamondback Eskrima is being past on to the next generation for safe keeping. More power to all FMA world wide...
