I had a most wonderful time at the Fiji School Of Medicine Samoan - TopicsExpress

I had a most wonderful time at the Fiji School Of Medicine Samoan students function last night. The main aim of this function was to welcome their first years into the school. They have this function every year and the association plans the whole event. It is also a way for everyone to get to know one another and have a little fun before the hectic year begins. My friend Lolomas friend Jancey came up to me and we had a lovely chat. She remembered me during my singing days here. And of course brother Bastian and I had a nice chat while clinking a few bottles. Also met Samoans with friends from other nationalities like Tonga, Fiji and Niue and to me, this is nice to behold. Also met a Samoan church ministers son who is an FSM student who is conducting the choir at the Samoan EFKS church here in Suva. Also had plenty of food like oka or raw fish made with coconut cream and onions and tomatos, bbq chicken, sausages and taro or dalo as we call it here. And not forgetting the lovely potato salad. There was also a special cake that was for the first years that all of them had to cut at one time. This cake said WELCOME. There was also loud music and this blind person did his blind dancing, at one point toppling a bottle in the process. All in good fun. I also had a chance to swim in the pool and splash about with other Samoan and other friends. I also had a wonderful chat with a Samoan FSM student who is going back to Samoa to do his practicle. A very bright mind and full of new ideas. Also had a good laugh with the president. Also, I believe that it was the first time for most to meet or be with a blind person. To our dear families back home, do not think that all we are doing here is having fun. It is part of student life and we will try our best for our people. Also met some students from USP who came as invites. I would like to extend my most sincere thanks to President Ralf, vice president Chris for the invite and all those friends both old and new who I met. I wish you all the best in your studies and in what ever lies ahead. Alofas and lolomas from your blind friend, Ari Tommy Hazelman.
