I had a mother who called me up one day. She said Dr. Umar, I need you to come talk to my son. I said why. She said because its time to go on the Prom and he wants to take a little White girl on his Prom. And we got nothing but young Black girls in the neighborhood, so Im a little concerned why my son dont want to take somebody who looks like him to the High School Prom. And I asked her Can I ask you a question. She said what. I said when you get dressed up for work, who do you try to look like in the morning? I said is your hair natural she said no I have a weave. I said what color is it? She said its blonde. I said so, you called me to ask me to help your son figure out why he dont like Black girls in his high school, I can tell you why. Cause he grew up idolizing his Mother. And if his mother is spending everyday trying to look like a White woman, he made the conclusion that why have a bootleg version when I can have the real thing. So my point to Black women is you cannot get mad at your sons for dating White when you spend every extra dollar you got to look White your damn self. -- Dr. Umar Ifatunde
