I had a really worthwhile time earlier today assisting the OFWs at Club Filipino, manning the Google booth and introducing/demonstrating the Google Balikbayan site and the apps that could benefit them. I even had the chance to hear some stories from these hardworking nanays and tatays. It was very refreshing since they are not the type of audience we used to have in past GSA events. Most are not even familiar with the simplest apps like Search! But my afternoon was completed when I saw them appreciate Google and the apps we were actually sharing; I saw them genuinely wow-ed specially by the features of Hangouts and Maps. Thats something that I have not seen in students that I have met in the past. I guess thats the thing: in this generation when nearly everyone has easy access to internet and the world wide web, we fail to see and appreciate the small stuff, we fail to be grateful for the convenience that the internet brings. I know each Pinoy knows an OFW - it may be your dad, your mom, your tito, your tita, your ninong, your ninang, your kapitbahay. So Id like everyone to see this site created by Google for our balikbayans (g.co/balikbayan) and share them with OFWs that we know, so they could learn more how to miss nothing and how to share the everyday with their loved ones despite the distance. https://youtube/watch?v=Gx3YmAGU3l4&feature=youtu.be
