I had a strong reaction to something that was linked to me jokingly today... It is tl;dr unless you have lots of free time. Suffice to say its an anti-D&D write up. chick/articles/frpg.asp Authors of these documents are so scared of the content matter that they simply do not put aside any of their mis-informed notions to do any real investigation to understand any of what they are citing. Not that all RPG players are saints, but the assumption that the vast majority of players are lacking any real moral fiber is preposterous. The follow up assumption that people playing these RPG games posses sub-nominal intelligence is simply incorrect. While persons with weaker personalities may have issues separating play time from life time, players of RPGs generally posses two traits: Above average skills in math and logic and the ability to read and interpret rules. If anything these players can be rightfully accused of free thinking. In the end I would say that playing an RPG is no different than an actor playing a role on television. Their arguments would similarly mean that any actor playing a character with a broken moral compass is subject to the same perils and pitfalls that await your typical RPG player. Much of their research is based on edge cases, unexplained deaths lacking any real leads, facts reported through the grape-vine and large sweeping assumptions. In this manner, I will conclude with my final explanation of their research. All D&D Related deaths and resultant anti-D&D litrature have been orchistrated and composed by organized religions (mainly Christianity) in an effort to discourage youth (whom are most succeptable to new ideas) from thinking freely for themselves. The intent from the start has been to build the population base of their religions with people who are generally non-free-thinkers, and would never question their leaders. Based upon this data it is clear that all priests are child molesters.
