I had a vague idea for a speed-reading app/tool a few months ago: an autocue that just displays one or two words at a time, so as to minimise the amount of time moving the eyes, where the readers speed can be trained by adjusting the display speed. It seems I was on the right lines as far as the idea is concerned, but I was missing a couple of components (as well as the necessary time and expertise.) I saw this in New Scientist, and just checked it out. spritzinc/ Its brilliant. In about 10 minutes I moved it up to 500 wpm with no problems (except for names). The sooner this becomes available on Kindle, and as a browser for a phone-based app, the better.
