I had a work worth epiphany this afternoon and my nearest and dearest will no doubt recognize this as part of my journey and learning but I realized, strongly…how offensive it is to me when people want to haggle and nickel and dime when it comes to my work. First I should say the vast majority of my clients are gracious, generous and so respectful and appreciative and I am grateful because it makes it easy for me to want to do the best work I can and return the respect and care. However, once in a blue moon someone will come along and its always someone who is in a position to know the industry standards and norms and must surely be aware that my rates are industry low and reasonable, this rare and stingy creature will want to find any loop hole or way to get even cheaper work from me. They know this is my job. I also cant help but notice every single time it is someone with a very nice home, lovely clothes and shoes, travel, a good car, eats well and drinks as a custom. I am happy anytime someone can afford this affluent lifestyle especially if it is what makes them happy. But, if you then truly feel comfortable coming to me and not wanting to pay my rate, want to waste me time and energy goofing around about the cheapest way possible to maneuver a massage from me. I say, God go with you, cuz I am not the massage therapist for you. I respect my work and time way more than that.
