I had an email from Nick Clegg asking me to support his Green policies! Here is what I wrote back: Dear Nick, I am honoured that you have come begging to me for money to support your political aims. I am also flabbergasted and bemused. Now aged 56, I completed a degree in Music Production in June 2012 and I have been unable to find regular paid employment since then. Luckily I graduated before the fees went up to £9000 a year thanks to you, Vince and your Tory friends. I am not entitled to any benefits of any kind as I have a house that I spent most of my working life paying for. My wife earns a paltry amount because her main job is in a horribly underfunded hospice that relies on charity for its income. I cant even get a job in Waitrose. So why do you think I might want to donate my few pence to a party that has supported the dismantling of the NHS, the demise of our education system, the destruction of our countryside by frackers, tax breaks for the rich and disgustlingly wealthy, a prime minister whose friends include people currently on trial for phonehacking, the list is endless. I sincerely hope that your party fails to win a single seat in the next election. Although Norman Baker is among the best constituency MPs and I have supported him and your party for many years here close to Lewes, I will never vote for him or any other LibDem candidate again, ever. I would rather have a Tory MP because at least I know what I am dealing with, but ideally I want a real Green Party here, not a tokenist or a fraud who is using the Green platform as a means of winning votes in the hope of regaining a token seat in a Right-Wing Tory government. I too care about the future and the planet that we are leaving for future generations. I do not want to see an elite super-rich unethical bunch of bullies ruling the world while the vast majority of decent people are left starving in slavery and squalor. That is where Tory policies are taking us, not just here but right across the planet. It is time to stand up to them, and that is something you have failed to do in your time in coalition. Please get off your fake green platform before it caves in on you. Do something decent - break up this woeful coalition and give us all a chance to vote in something better. Best regards, Brendan Carroll
