I had an interesting experience yesterday on this page. As I know you are all aware, there are people on every page, whose goal appears to be to offend or inflame others...to say things that are hurtful and get an angry rise out of people. When I confronted the individual from this page, his response was that he is an aspie. I want to be clear about a few things regarding that....people on the spectrum typically lack the mindsight, planning, and desire to inflame and provoke others. This doesnt mean there is NO ONE on the spectrum who behaves this way; however, it would definitely be the exception, and would cause me to question the diagnosis altogether. The other piece to this is that, no matter our challenges, it is never an excuse to be purposely cruel and, in fact, is not a part of the diagnosis itself. I have, at various times, banned people who do that from my page, because it takes away from the support, caring, education, and love that I want shown amongst our community. Sometimes, though, I dont ban a person, in the hopes that they will learn and become a better person. Id love feedback from you all.
