I had been in a good habit of reading the bible for a while, but the last few months I have struggled to establish a time to dedicate to the word and I have suffered spiritually for it. I have become weak again in my battle and it is evident in my everyday life. I confess my actions and words have not rightly reflected The Lord and for that I am ashamed. I just happened to glance at my bible application and come upon the verse in James about controlling our tongues. It mentioned that a great indicator of our changing heart through Christ is made clear through our speech. As Christ said, from the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. This statement itself speaks volumes on our walk and transformation in Christ. Do we speak critically more often than not? Do we belittle even unintentionally? We can build or break people down over time with the words we say and they reflect an image to others leaving an impression. I pray in the future that I would work hard at this with the power of the Holy Spirit to let my heart overflow with more love than hate or discontent. Lets all take this challenge to heart, if our God had time to speak on it then it should be taken seriously.
