I had just arrived from my incentive trip to Eastern Europe and had a chance to stay a few days in Manila to just rest from so much laag and kapoy and be able to eat Filipino comfort food which I had missed so much. I had a chance to meet up with my friends, who I had not realized have had so much to do with the commercial and residential boom in our country’s capital. Arnold de Asis and some friends took me to lunch at a restaurant at the new Shangri-la mall. As I entered the mall I could not help but notice the DATEM signs around the shang complex and of course the DATEM 30 Years sign on the crane on top of the One Shang twin towers they are constructing for the Shangri-la group. So I had a chat with Arnold about this, who happens to be one of DATEM’s owners. I was so excited at the fact that I was actually having lunch with the builder of the beautiful mall we were at. I kept on asking him in my amazement what other projects his company has done and the ever so humble Arnold soft spokenly started telling me the other malls they built such as the Rockwell Power Plant mall, Greenbelt 2,3,4 and Market Market and he of course, as he was quick to say that they did the Ayala malls with MDC, the Ayala in-house construction company. Then, as if I was not yet amazed with those projects he enumerated, I prodded him to tell me the other projects they built around town and he mentioned the Mind Museum that he seems to be so proud of, the other residential projects they built like One Rockwell, Discovery Primea, the most expensive condo in the country, Arya residences, a LEED Certified building as he explained is a green certified building. Other condos for top developers like Robinsons Land, Federal Land of the Metrobank group, Alpha Land, Anchor Land as well as service apartments like Oakwood and Ascott and hotels like Discovery shores and the three hotels they are building now at Resorts world. He then remembered, they also built the first class hospital at the fort, the St. Lukes Global hospital. It was almost so difficult for him to be telling me the projects that they had done because of the humble natured that Arnold has, Hehe. But Arnold could not all of a sudden hide his excitement of their plans to do a project in Davao. He told me when he is in Manila, he looks at their projects here as his job and their responsibility to their clients. In Davao naman , he is so excited about the thought of building their own projects through their property development company Eco-Dwellings Corp. Sabi nya, it excites me every time I take a trip to Davao to work on our condo development there called the Urban Hive Palms. He continued to tell me how lucky they are, to be able to find a good site and a very good partner in the Dizon family. In a now unusually excited voice, he said that they want to develop something different for the Davao market. Something that will change Davao’s architectural landscape. He further said, the development will have seven residential buildings with only over 700 units and a big open space that will have a nice clubhouse, pool, basketball court and beautiful landscaping. He can not even imagine an open space that will be more beautiful than this, since he said, will be filled with very many royal palms. His excitement continues because he says that he is so excited about giving the Davaoenos an opportunity to buy a beautiful condo at a very affordable and shall i say barato price. They will be selling their condos for at least 25-35% cheaper than condos in the northern area of the city. And that seems incredible! I caught on to his excitement. I can’t wait gyud !!!
