I had my appointment today with my Hematologist/Oncologist. The results that came in from the blood study that was conducted continue to indicate that I have leukemia. The testing so far is not conclusive, but creates more suspicion. The type of leukemia that is suspected is known as Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, (CML). In order to conclusively determine if I in fact have this he is putting me in the hospital next week for a "Bone Marrow Biopsy" and several cat scans. I believe the cat scans will be of the spleen. With this type of cancer the spleen becomes enlarged. If I do have CML most people respond well to treatment and go into remission, but need continued treatment. I will be going into the hospital on September 27th for the first of two planned surgeries on my spine. I am confident that I will do fine. When this is all over I should be good for another 100,000 miles.
