I had my morning workout. Took Dawn to work, did the grocery - TopicsExpress

I had my morning workout. Took Dawn to work, did the grocery shopping and picked up Rickys Lasix. Pulled into the driveway and heard a blood curdling scream from the next block down. Theres a big white (unneutered) boxer mix that lives there and hes bounding around the yard. The woman who screamed is running into the house. Now, the street between our blocks can be busy especially in the morning so the last thing this big guy needed is to be running in the street. I ran over and set up a boundary on the sidewalk so he wouldnt get past, He was fearful of me and didnt respond to the kind voice but I worked that to advantage, repelling him back to his yard. The owner just kept hollering his name (Raja) from the house. He didnt seem to be venturing far away so, since there wasnt a big effort, I walked back to my house to unload my groceries and take care of my own Kidz. As I was putting the groceries away, sure enough, he comes barreling down our block, having crossed the main street. I run out and start following him through the yards. I was hoping I could lure him into Terrell Jones s yard, which is fenced in (although I was leery of this because, in Terrells domain, you dont come out the way you went in). The dog outsmarted me and kept hiding around trees, playing some kind of growling peek-a-boo. I worked the angles and got him back to his yard, At this point, the screamer finally came out. She was useless. The dog paid her no mind. I continued to keep him in the yard. She told me she lost hold of him because she had stepped in his poop. I told her to go inside and get a treat to lure him (which should have been done about ten minutes ago at this point). When she went inside, he weighed his options and just ran in after her because I was getting even closer. The door slammed and that was it. No thank you. I guess it was more important for her to put underpants on or finish a very important cigarette. I dragged myself home, telling myself that the pups safety is reward enough. Now, I wish I had some oxygen.
