I had never heard of Byron Mallott until Hollis French mentioned that he was running as his Lt.Gov last night. My first thought was, Byron MalWho? I was sceptical. A good friend in WI had just posted an article about Dems not bickering and uniting, and I reluctantly liked the post to support Hollis, who Ive met and like. Ive read a bit about Byron and I like him. While Im undecided about who I will support, I believe that Byron genuinely cares about the people of Alaska, he understands the laws and how they work, he is business-minded, and he is smart without being a bore. While hes been in politics for a long time, he doesnt seem like a salesman or a politician. I look forward to meeting him in person. The next gubernatorial race is going to be tough. So far, the Democrats have some fantastic candidates running for governor. I hope that we NEVER take the sarcasm of saying, Anyone but the present one in office. Whomever we send to run for ANY OFFICE needs to shine and stand on his or her own, regardless of the person who holds the seat and that persons good and bad attributes.
