I had plenty of time to muse about city life and the notion of time as I made the gridlocked, one+hour commute from downtown Seattle to my home in Ballard (@ 4 miles) this evening. During that time the Starbucks grande that I had while waiting for Xrays, radiology reports, and a teeny slice of my doctors itinerary had plenty of time to process. As I pulled out of the driving rain into the comfort of my parking garage, I realized that the coffee wasnt going to wait. I had to pee. Urgently. NOW. I parked, actually left my dog in the car, with only my keys and fob in hand, dashed to the elevator, and heaved a great sigh as the it began its ascent. But only for a moment. The elevator stopped at street level, and six more people got on the elevator. I watched in horror as each new person on the elevator punched different buttons, one through six. You have GOT to be kidding me ... I live on the seventh floor.
