I had progressed at cricket from a no 11 to coming in at 6 or 7, when I drove to Davenham for an away match one day. I played this song as I set off, decided I needed to hear it again, and kept pressing repeat all the way there. I got there in the best mood ever, someone hadnt turned up, so I said no problem Ill open. I scored 37, then my highest score by a mile since school, looked like scoring 100 or more til the umpire gave a decision that even the fielding team, except the appealing bowler laughed at. Ever since that day, Ive opened the batting, apart from one dark season at Cholmondeley involving an idiot Captains crony mates. So the Wannadies turned me into an opening batsman. Have any bands had a weird and unexpected effect on your life?
