I had someone ask me a couple of days ago if I really loved photography or if I did it just because it was something to do (I think it was a parent of a player on the opposing team because I didnt recognize them) and it really got me thinking. When I started taking photos right after high school it was more of a hobby and just something to keep me busy, but over the past 4 years it has evolved into something I truly love, enjoy, and look forward to. Had someone showed me a copy of my portfolio and business resume the night of graduation, I would have thought they were pulling my leg. I’ve found that being behind the camera and editing gives you an in depth look at what you are photographing. It allows you to see their personality, the detail in everything, and even give the photos a spark of your own personality. It has allowed me to meet new people I probably otherwise wouldnt have met and has given me a glimpse into what makes these athletes who they are. As Im sure many of you have seen, my focus the past month or so has been on sports photography, and Ive met some incredible athletes who exemplify true sportsmanship and character whether victory or defeat, and are a great testimony for their school and exemplify true leadership on and off the field. Ive worked with amazing families, spunky and fun High School Seniors, and awesome couples who are head over heels in love with each other. Business may be slow which is definitely frustrating and at times discouraging, but I can truly say, I love what I do, and am proud of the accomplishments I’ve achieved.
