I had someone tell me at the grocery store today that the parting phrase "have a good one " was a dangling modifier, to which I replied, "Excuse me". He repeated what he had said. After a brief pause followed by a look of surprise, I thought to myself, I know WHAT it is! Be that as it may, it is still grammatical correct and perfectly acceptable in modern, informal American English conversation. I thought it odd that I was receiving a grammar lesson in the MIDDLE of a grocery store.
