I had something quite astounding happen to me last night as I was - TopicsExpress

I had something quite astounding happen to me last night as I was doing my devotions. I read a verse and felt that I should send it to one of my friends that I haven’t talked to since June of 2014. I fought this feeling in my heart for about 5 minutes and then listened to it. I sent him a message over Facebook: Me: “Isaiah 30:18, ‘Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!’” Friend: “Bro!!!! You have no idea!!! Thank you so much.” Me: “I felt you needed to hear those words.” And his response, which sent chills down my back, Friend: “I’ll have to tell you more about it. Lol but I literally am laying in my bed and like 5 min ago was reading and mediating on that verse cause I need it right now.” Now I understand some of you are sceptics of God working in the lives of his people. I know that some of you will just find it as a coincidence, but let me shed light on how improbable something like this would happen by mere chance. There are 31,102 verses in the Bible. If I randomly choose one, I would have a 1 in 31,102 chance of picking a verse. Now I have to randomly choose a friend from Facebook to be a receiver of my message. I currently have 796 friends, so I have a 1 in 796 of picking that one friend who needs it in their life right now. Assuming it is normal for him to be doing his devotions at the same time as I do mine, despite us being in different time zone, the chance of both me picking the verse and choosing him to receive the message is 1 in 24,757,192. Still think it was coincidence? Let’s put this in perspective. For any of you who understand gambling, you have better odds of choosing green on the roulette table (which is a 1 in 37 chance) and winning...four times in a row and then pulling a card out of a deck and having it be an Ace. (1 in 24,364,093) Or if you are not into the gambling scene, you have a better chance of flipping heads on a coin, pulling a card from a deck and not having it be a hearts, and then being struck by lightning twice in a lifetime. (1 in 24,000,000) Don’t mistake God’s working in our lives as chance.
