I had the opportunity to attempt to save a dogs life today, while making a lot of money in the process. I opted not to. I could have used guilt to exploit the potential adopters compassion and talk her into thousands of dollars in training, a lifetime of management and learning to live with fear. She would have done it. She would have dedicated all of her time, energy and emotion. She would have been miserable and this would definitely have been her very last dog. I decided that this lovely retired couple deserved the kind of relationship they wanted with a pet dog, and that another, more stable dog deserved the chance to fill that spot. The five month old, bitey, resource guarding, undersocialized, adorable dog will be going back to the Texas rescue. I wish her well.
