I had the opportunity to think of why I started the Tough Mudders - TopicsExpress

I had the opportunity to think of why I started the Tough Mudders and kept going. My initial share was that it was a way to test new fitness goals and strength...and to emerge like a Phoenix out of a marriage that wasnt working. I realize now that it was even more. Thank you, Erik, for reminding me that a little girl and her mom waited for me after my first TM to get out of the showers in 2011, which back then was only a fire hose of freezing water in a pond of muck (mudders have it good now!), to tell me they watched me crash those 7 tries on my first Everest and found my tenacity inspiring...how she told her daughter that that was the type of woman to be. And they searched for me every obstacle afterwards, they said...I was the second female on that first wave of a Sunday at a Dallas TM...and when I crawled out of the ElectroShock, MC Sean was probably still new so he had a big hug waiting for me, and I uncharacteristically laid a massive, muddy, goobery, full mouth kiss on him. Bet he never hugged another Mudder again. Heh. Sorry yall. That was when I started posting every act of fitness I do. Because someone, somewhere is watching. And cheering. And using a piece of my life to inspire their own pursuits, as do I with others. And I realize even more now... that Tough Mudders and training for them strengthened me in my marriage, sustained me through my divorce, helped me survive my mothers death, and gave me the superb opportunity to share a new life with my dad, brother, sister in-law, niece and nephews. I have contemplated retiring from TMs after WTM and I know why now. Its because Ive grown and healed so much. New chapters are starting, new paths are emerging. I have new goals to pursue. But only after this weekend. And only after hearing the stories of the other Mudders which are much more inspirational stories than mine. Thank you for helping me remember my reasons for muddying, Cory and Jim. You are superb people. i.imgur/djxEgMe.jpg
