I had the pleasure of shooting the 2 day Silicon Chef Hardware - TopicsExpress

I had the pleasure of shooting the 2 day Silicon Chef Hardware Hackathon held by Hackbright Academy-a quarterly engineering fellowship for women in San Francisco. I was completely blown away & truly inspired by all of the women & their brilliant projects!! I was very impressed by the passion and drive of every single one of the participants-hackers & mentors alike! I was especially blown away by the high school hackers!!! Most of them are part of Girls Who Code- a national nonprofit organization that works to educate, inspire, and equip high school girls with the skills and resources to pursue opportunities in computing fields!! (FACT: In middle school, 74% of girls express interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), but when choosing a college major, just 0.3% of high school girls select computer science.) Out of the 8 winning teams: 2 of the teams were made up of mainly Hackbright Academy Alumna, 1 team made up of mainly new Fall 2014 Hackbright Academy Students, and the runner up team was from a local high school in Oakland!
