I had this customer come in today to buy a longboard for his daughter Anna. He came in a few weeks ago to buy 3 boards for his sons. When I heard he had a daughter, I asked why she was the only one not getting a board. He said she never wanted to try it... have you ever asked her? this simple question was enough to start changing the way he thought about it. He came back in today to get a board for Anna, saying he feels terrible that he has never given Anna the opportunity to try. Just because we dont see that many girls skating, doesnt mean that girls cant skate. As soon as he had asked her, it was all she could talk about! Together Anna and I picked out a perfect board for her to learn on. Now he has gone around asking his friends the same question. Because of this his friends are not only skating with their sons, but also their daughters. So stoked to hear this! They have asked me to host a longboard lesson with all the families, learning some new skills and hopefully inspiring even more women to join this amazing sport. We could all use a radical shift in perspective with how we view women in sports. Open your mind. Now get out there and skate!
