I had this problem, yesterday. And, I was quite worried about it because of my dads data. After I followed the advice of leaving it unplugged from the back of the Imac (I kept the cord plugged in to the wall.) for a while, like while watching a television show for almost thirty minutes or close to an hour, I decided to hold down the power button, count for like ten or 20 seconds, and, while still holding down the power button, plug the power cord to the back of the Imac again. Then, I let go of the power button, wait for like 10 more seconds, then I press the power button again! It finally chimed and turned on! :) https://youtube/watch?v=M6R8XWYBqdo
