I had this query from a friend. Does anyone have any information that I can point her to? Initial thought is that the NHS is currently devolved yet already works across the border, so surely this would be negotiated as its in everyones interests? Have the SG addressed this already? I want to vote yes for a number of reasons, but theres one thing stopping me. Im concerned about what will happen with regards to organ donation. I will need a lung transplant in the future and all Scottish transplantees currently go to Newcastle. There has never been a lung transplant performed in Scotland. Also you are able to draw on available donors from all over the UK. My worry would be that you will not be offered organs from English donors, and also that a new and inexperienced transplant centre would need to be developed here which might compromise care. Im finding it very difficult to find reliable info about what will happen if Scotland were to be independent regarding this. That is my big concern.
