I had to make a quick trip to Houston today because we messed up and didnt order enough product. I was heading home and coming through the downtown area around 4:15. When i went through the I10 and I45 intersections it was like a zoo and then the Hwy 59 intersection was also crazy. I survived the rush hour traffic, got around a major accident in Pasadena and made it back to the office safely. After unloading all the product I headed home. As I am heading down Main I approach Hwy 73 so I can turn on 32nd street. I see two cars on the frontage road slow down to stop at the stop sign and just as I am accelerating to go through the intersection I catch a glimpse of a blur as some idiot goes through the stop sign at about 60 miles an hour, passing the other two cars on the right. Because I was paying attention I was able to slam on the brakes and sit on the horn as he went through and gave an apologetic wave and did a little fishtail slide when he slammed on his brake. So I drove 200 miles, dodged through rush hour traffic, and then almost get T-boned 3 blocks from my house. It is amazing how quickly things can change. After saying a quick thanks you God I went home as if nothing happened but then later on got to realizing how close a call that was. If I hadnt got out of my car to check and make sure I had locked the door, if I had driven 1 mph faster, wow it could have been ugly. Dont forget to hug those you love and always leave everyone with a smile.
