I had to say goodbye to one of my favorite ladies today. It is bittersweet, because as much as we miss her, its comforting to think that she might be with Grandpa again. My grandparents were THAT couple, and we were all lucky to be a part of their family. While going through old pictures to get ready for her funeral today, it would have been a challenge to find photos of the two of them in which they werent being all affectionate and cute! In most of them, from professional portraits to snapshots they didnt know were being taken, they are holding hands, or hugging, or holding each other...and as they got older, those pictures didnt really change much. There have been a lot of jokes made the last couple of days while reminiscing, but the truth is I think theres something really beautiful about a couple, that even after 60 some years of marriage, still cant keep their hands off each other. Im sharing some photos, in part because some relatives wanted them, and in part because Im feeling very exhausted and emotional, and I wanted to share some with those of you that did not have the privilege of knowing them- because they were both pretty awesome people. I love the pictures where they are not posed, and just doing their thing- and I especially love how they are discreetly holding hands in my moms wedding photo...makes me smile every time. Sometimes its even just the way they look at each other. These pictures just make me happy. Love you and miss you both, and I really hope that after four long years, youre finally holding hands again. ♥
