I hardly ever post on facebook, especially when it comes to anything political, but I just happened to read this article when I was a dangerous combination of hangry and tired, so here goes: Political correctness in this country has reached an all time high (or low, depending on how you look at it) and now a school district in Nebraska is encouraging teachers to avoid the use of gendered expressions such as boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, etc. when referring to students in order to accommodate the feelings of those who dont identify themselves as the gender they were born. Instead, they are suggesting the use of more “creative” expressions. The example from these two articles is purple penguins (???) Don’t get me wrong, I’m a supporter of equality for everyone but this is taking it way too far. I fear the day when my children are discouraged from using basic pronouns to describe themselves and others for fear of being transgender exclusive or whatever.
