I have 2 younger sisters, so my perspective on domestic abuse may be a little different than most people. If either of my 2 younger sisters got hit, I wouldnt care if they forgave their dudes, I wouldnt have cared whose fault it was, I wouldnt have cared why it happened. My instinct would be to go after dude and act bad. People have their own feelings about the situation, but until someone close to you, or you yourself are in that situation, you dont make light or try to rationalize things that happened. I can go out right now and commit a crime, my wife, the public, and my job may forgive me, but it doesnt mean my black ass is keeping my job and not going to jail.
