I have a dilemma... I am currently selling my 15 yr old gelding. I got him about a year ago from a woman who basically just dumped him on me. I cant say no to a horse that needs a home. He had only been used in his life as a hunter/jumper and I am an eventer. He was under weight and had ZERO top line. His dressage sucked but could go around a decent 26 stadium course. My plan was to up his weight, muscle him up and sell him so that I could get an eventing prospect to train up the levels. BUT... After having this gelding for a year, he has become one hell of a horse!! His top line is beautifully developed, has a great butt now and his dressage is easily first level with second level potential... His stadium has cleaned up beautifully and packs around a 3 course in his sleep and schooling easily 33 with potential for more. He is extremely fit and has a brain that all the riders dream of. I decided to take him xcountry schooling over a few small logs to see how he took it and he LOVED it! He ate it up and was ready to jump more. My issue is... Do I still sell my 15 yr old since my goal is prelim and knowing he may not be able to take me there or do I keep the horse that is so honest and trusting and doesnt have a stop in him to continue training for eventing? Ughh the dilemma!! Any advice is welcome!
