I have a friend who is going through a very difficult time right now. She didnt ask for this to happen, nor does she deserve it. But she must endure it, day after day, night after night. To have even a few hours sleep without being awoken by the torment that her condition forces upon her would be heaven for her. There appears to be no cure, no drug, no magic bullet, no prayer that can help. It is said that God only makes you suffer what He thinks you can endure, but my friend tell me that she simply does not understand why God has chosen her to be the poster girl for this, because she grows very weary trying to prove Him right. Just washing her own hair is a battle, just being a wife and a mum is often a bridge too far. What ails her is unimportant, but what is important, and is desperately important to her, is that those of us who are still healthy and active understand that friends who appear outwardly ordinary are sometimes going though the most extraordinary circumstances. She is an inspiration to me, because although fate has dealt her a very rough hand, a little core of steel is embedded in her heart and her soul. Some dont understand, some shy away, some prefer not to look. Well, I understand, I will not be shy, and I am looking right at you kiddo. If any of you have a friend that needs to be understood, defended and looked at with compassion, right now would be a good time.
