I have a friend who lives in Bulgaria. When asked about the current situation, this is what she said: Now Russia- I completely get them and very much admire them. Theyre a nation that protects their people, they always were, and if Krim wants them, theyll help them, no matter the economic consequences this may have, because this is how they are. Theyre very passionate about their own people and those nations that are close to them. This is a quality I greatly admire. I have a friend at work who left Russia and became a U.S. citizen, he says Putin Thinks hes a 21st Century Peter the Great (17th Century Russian Czar/warrior) I think the Russians could have had Crimea back - it was Khrushchev who gave it to Ukraine in the 1950s - but they want more. Or Putin wants more, a lot more, and hes putting troops and ships in position to just take it. Like in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary. Problem is, and he should know this, you cant just conquer people and territory any more.
