I have a good mind for abstract thinking: boiling down complex - TopicsExpress

I have a good mind for abstract thinking: boiling down complex thoughts and putting them into an easily digestible framework for others to understand, but that same mind completely screws me for remembering hard facts and even the titles of books Ive read years ago. Tonight, I was trying to remember details from a book I had read either in the mid 1990s at the Life Arts building or about eleven years ago that was lent to me while living at Renee Gurleys house on Park Ave in Rivercide by this super smart Canadian hippie. I cant even remember the decade it was given to me, but I can remember the prime ideas and none of the particulars. The books main premise of mans continual need to control his environment and the near Quixotic task of that undertaking has stuck with me all of these years, but it took me forever and only through the wonder of Google to find the book I had read . . . and only after remembering other authors of the same stripe that were recommended that I read in the same vain during that time period. How weird is that? I cant immediately remember the book I actually read, but I can remember my friends making recommendations for a similar book. So, after much research, heres the book I actually read. The other book that was recommended will follow: amazon/The-Control-Nature-John-McPhee/dp/0374522596
