I have a new heroine. Betty Soskin is 92 is the nations oldest Park Ranger. She became famous last year when they were furloughing government employees at the insistence of the Republican Party who thought it was the way to save money in a time of heavy unemployment. Betty became very angry at being furloughed. At this stage of my career, I have a sense of urgency, Soskin said from her home in San Pablo, Calif., about 20 miles northeast of San Francisco. This is my last decade, and I cant afford to have anyone waste my time. She returned to work shortly after. You dont mess with Betty! :) There is a 93 year old seasonal part-time ranger at a Park in Montana, but Rosie is the oldest full-time ranger in the country. Im inspired.
